Was born in 1970 in Palermo but he spent his childhood in Galati Mamertino, a small town on the Nebrodi mountains, in the province of Messina. In Palermo he graduated with a bachelor of science in geology and he became a certified geologist. Since receiving his certification he has been practising geology on his own.
However, the love for his country and for art have been a fundamental part of his life since he was a teen ager: painting, graphics and photography are the forms of art that are the most familiar to him. Regardless of the early classical education, in high school, and then the scientific one, in geology, he considers photography as an essential element in his life. Thus, even if later on in his life, he started a path that gradually led him deeper and deeper in this form of art, that he feels close to his soul and therefore never sterile, not without recognition and appreciation. Photography means for him pure passion and feeling.
Sicily provides him with a huge number of ideas to nourish this passion, a cradle of colours and moments to be stolen from time and places. His works are not aimed just to capture a moment in time but also, and even more, to express feelings and to experience that essence of the island that not everybody can understand. Attracted also by the South American culture and sceneries, he loves and pays particular attention to them and this is evident in most of his shots. These pictures recall paintings, the images are pervaded with an oneiric spirit, sometimes methaphysical.
When he still considered himself an amateur, his picture named “Life is Beautiful – La vita è bella”, was selected in the prestigious world contest “Sony World Photography Awards” among more than 25.000 pictures from all over the world and it reached the semi-finals together with ten other pictures in the same category (2008 contest).
He was the official photographer of critical acclaimed musical shows and he often works with the sicilian actor Gianfranco Jannuzzo for whom he realizes pictures of his shows…
