A Story of Love Between a Foreigner and an Island

Traveling along with Jean Paul Bareaud, a polyhedrical cultural French guide in Sicily since the beginning of the ’80s, one will discover the hidden marvels of Sicily and its most interesting and charming sites.
The isle represents a land of intrigue and mystery complete with customs and traditions all of its own and lends itself to travels of past Mediterranean times. Although modern age discoveries exist, remaining true to the beauty of traditional ways is never completely removed in Sicily. Barreaud is careful to present this side of the island.
In his tour, Jean Paul goes through the most obscure stories of Sicily such as hunting unknown Norman cathedrals where Templar Knights once met, to seeking forgotten magical herbs and splendid castles where history and personal experiences are alternated, to poignantly highlighting cultural and social aspects.
Sicily unveiled shows a never before seen Sicily: the Sicily of authentic European and Mediterranean roots that for centuries has been hidden under the guise of folklore. A highly imaginative land rich in colors, flavors and scents with an unexpected landscape is Sicily.
THE TOUR GUIDE
Jean Paul Barreaud, cultural guide of Sicily, is a native of Gascony, a cultural region in southern France.
Raised on the Lake of Garda, he has lived for the last twenty-five years in Sicily wherein he has engaged in concentrated studies of the greatest secrets and mysteries of the island due to his profound love of its beauty and contradiction.
A dedicated enthusiast of all that is Sicilian, he is an expert in the transmission of esoteric knowledge. To discover Sicily is to prefer it as the ultimate destination.
In 2005, Barreaud began a new and much more demanding approach in order to provide the experience of a lifetime. Beginning with biblical and mythological exegesis, his tour begins here and moves towards more typical expectations, which are delivered with such warmth that Barreaud is able to connect with people from small and big suburbs rendering his tour quite memorable and unique. The combination of his attention to detail, his interest in the obscure, and his adherence to the Sicilian modus vivendi make his tour an absolute must for anyone visiting Sicily.
